We can also donate money monthly to various orphan agencies which will provide a child water, food, and other necessities they may need. We can visit orphanages and volunteer or bring clothes, toys, books, and baked goods for those children. We can adopt a child, should God place that on your heart to do so, and provide a loving Christian home for that child. Therefore, there is plenty of opportunity for us to demonstrate God’s love to these children longing for a home, a family, and acceptance. Today, many children become orphans for far too many reasons. When the Bible was written, children became orphans mainly by their parents dying from battle or a deathly sickness. An orphan is a child who has lost both parents to death or other circumstances, whether it be drug use, incarceration, illness, or negligence. (1) Looking after, visiting, and taking care of orphans.
The NIV states, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” The VOICE translation says, “Real, true religion from God the Father’s perspective is about caring for the orphans and widows who suffer needlessly and resisting the evil influence of the world.”Īccording to this Scripture, there are three factors that makes religion pure and acceptable in God ‘s eyes (His perspective) and they are: According to James 1:27 (AMP), the only religion that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God is… to visit and look after the fatherless and the widows in their distress, and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the (secular) world.
